Technology and Innovation at Begbroke Science Park
Generating new knowledge and turning it into new products and services is important to maintaining and enhancing the UK's competitiveness. It is fundamental that researchers and industry work closely together and maximise the social and economic benefits of new ideas.
Transforming research results into new commercial products is a complex process, involving a broad range of stakeholders. It is not enough to simply increase public investment in research; it is important to create a framework to facilitate the process of knowledge transfer by removing the barriers which hinder collaboration between research and industry in order to maximise returns.
Begbroke Science Park exists to provide a first link between start-up science based companies, their more established counterparts and the University and wider academic community. All our staff have a role to play in aiding this goal.
Knowledge Transfer
At Begbroke Science Park Knowledge Transfer takes place in a variety of different guises ranging from passing conversations between academics and companies, to networking events and formally based KT contracts. There are two Knowledge Transfer networks based on site, plus the University of Oxford's Knowledge Transfer Partnership Office, as well as other activities.

The Business Development Managers and Academic Director are the principle points of contact and are available for technical advice as well as for signposting to industry experts and mentors. Networking activities include coffee mornings, the CEO forum, Begbroke Transfer events, as well as lunchtime seminars and breakfast seminar series.
