Begbroke Science Park meets PM

In September 2012 the Oxfordshire Business Park Managers’ Forum met with David Cameron, Prime Minister and local MP for Witney, at Cornbury Park, to talk about Science and Business Parks and their role in economic growth. As a county with an abundance of science based businesses, this is important to Oxfordshire.

The Forum represents more than 20 Business and Science Parks across Oxfordshire, which together account for more than 6% of the county’s employment. Time was short, so the group kept their discussion to a small number of important issues and presented the PM with some low or no cost solutions to some of the barriers faced. There was an honest exchange of views on the relaxation of planning regulations and empty business rates as well as bank loans and funding.

Dr Caroline Livingstone, Manager of Begbroke Science Park, speaking afterwards, said: ‘It was great to have an open discussion of this nature and we all hope that our ideas fall on fertile ground and prove helpful not just to Oxfordshire, but to the UK…’david-cameron-2012
