Sports Day 2012

Go Team BB- Wii can do it!

With the Olympics approaching, Begbroke’s very own teams of enthusiastic athletes set a high standard of their own this Wednesday lunchtime. The event was set to be a washout but spirits were not dampened as the games were moved indoors to the Blenheim Room. The Nintendo Wii games served for great fun and looked worthy to send teams over the finish line with a hop, skip and a jump.

As the weather took a turn for the worse the teams were very eager about the alternative activities set in place. Each team was excited to start and the unique team names represented the support and strong relationships between all team members.

In the warm and dry, the competition heated up as teams rotated around a number of original activities. There was an experience suitable for all levels of participation, with games including the Log Leaper, Timber Trail, Seesaw Battle and the Sprint Challenge plus a themed quiz to complete during lunch. Seven teams from various departments tore their way across the virtual finish line to the prize in sight.

The clear champions of Begbroke’s alternative annual sports day were ‘The A Team’, from the Impact Laboratory, closely followed by the runners up ‘We Love You Andrew’, from the Solar Research team, who were both awarded medals and certificates for their success.

With tough conditions and even tougher competitors, the research groups at Begbroke Science Park certainly enjoyed their action packed afternoon. Stimulating the workforce outside the office with indoor play provided a well-received mid-week break for many. Fingers crossed for better weather next year for another day of fun!
