On Saturday 4 July, Oxford University Science Park, Begbroke hosted the fourth annual Science Wonder Garden Party – a community-focussed event bringing science and innovation to life.

Organised by Oxford University Development, the event was attended by over 2,000 members of the local community and surrounding Oxfordshire areas. The day featured creative workshops, hands-on experiments, talks, live music and lab tours with some of Begbroke’s leading scientists. The highlights included:

  • Interactive stands from Oxford Archaeology and Cherwell Collective
  • Hands-on activities led by STEM goes Wild, including making a modular chain-reaction machine inspired by Rube Goldberg
  • Begbroke tenant Mode Labs showcased their microcavity technology, with water-testing activities related to the clean-water crisis
  • The History of Science Museum, Oxford, ran object-handling sessions with calculating curiosities from their collections
  • Year 5 and 6 student engineers from the Edward Feild School Green Racer team showcased their self-built, fully functioning electric racer
  • The researchers behind Oxford Sparks delivered a series of lightening talks on topics such as climate justice and cancer vaccine development
  • Researchers at Energy Storage and Energy Carriers Group demonstrated their cooling vests, developed here at Begbroke
